Ernie U. Poitras, 68 of Goffstown, NH, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 in Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. Mr. Poitras was born in Pelham, NH on December 16, 1936, a son of the late Ulysses and Helen (Currier) Poitras. He was a resident of Goffstown for 18 years and was a former longtime resident of Londonderry, NH. Mr. Poitras served with the United States Air Force where he was a jet engine mechanic. Mr. Poitras worked in computer repair for Centronics in Hudson, NH for 13 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed yard sales and flea markets and his hobbies of wood carving, building, painting, making things and being creative. He was a friend to everybody.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Gloria Poitras of Goffstown, three step-sons, Joseph Fruci of Manchester, NH, Paul Fruci of ME and Alan Fruci of Effingham, NH, a step-grandson, Joseph J. Fruci of Nashua, NH, a step-granddaughter, Melinda Fruci of Allenstown, NH, a brother, Ronald Poitras of Allenstown, and a sister, Joan Maddock of MD. He was predeceased by a step-daughter, Carol Burns.
Following cremation private family services will be held. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is in charge of the arrangements.
