Obituary

SALEM- Claire A. (Fugere) Holloran, 82, wife of the late Charles R. Holloran, Sr., of Salem, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 in the Salem Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Alma (Robinson) Fugere.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years at Webber’s Department Store and later at Almy’s, both in Salem. In her retirement years she was a dispatcher for the Salem Council on Aging in the transportation office.

A lifelong resident of Salem, she was one of the first licensed Citizen’s Band radio operators in Salem, going by the handle, “Gypsy.”

Mrs Holloran, who saw all four of her sons become members of the Salem Fire Department, is survived by three sons, Ronald R. and his wife Barbara E. Holloran of Salem, C. Michael and his wife Debra Holloran of Beverly, Charles R. Holloran, Jr. and his fiancee Gail French of Peabody, two daughters Patricia and her husband John P. Davidson of Houston, Texas, M. Renee Holloran and her fiance Scott Brewer of Salem, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Judith R. Holloran of Salem, one sister, Cecile Thompson of Rochester, NH, one sister-in-law, Doris Fugere of Baltimore, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard J. Holloran, Sr. and sister of the late Wilfred Fugere, Emile Fugere, Raymond Fugere and Bernadette Colby.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2002, at 8 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 am at Ste. Anne’s Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 pm.
