DARTMOUTH -- Robert Donald Brown of South Dartmouth died at home Friday, May 6, 2005, after a 20-year battle with leukemia and lymphoma. He was the husband of Ainslee (Short) Brown. They were married 57 years.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Everett and Lillian (Dupre) Brown. He was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School and had lived in Dartmouth since 1971.
Mr. Brown was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a machinist at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette and later at Heald Machine and Norton Co. He retired from Polaroid Corp. in 1988 after a 28-year career.
Mr. Brown was a volunteer firefighter with the Shrewsbury Fire Department from 1955 to 1970. He was a past master of the Mathew John Whittal Masonic Lodge in Shrewsbury and the Royal & Ancient Chapter 522, Helensburgh, Scotland.
He enjoyed golfing, yard sales and especially being with his family.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Linda Paradise and her husband, Jack, of Dartmouth, and Pamela Evans and her husband, John, of York, Pa.; two sons, Steve Brown of Naugatuck, Conn., and Rick Brown and his wife, Diane, of Dartmouth; three brothers, Everett Brown of Shrewsbury, William Brown of Brimfield and Richard Brown of Dartmouth; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, in the Congregational Church, Middle Street, South Dartmouth, Ma.
Arrangements are by the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma.
