YORK, ME____Enoch S. Szczepanek, 96, of York, formerly of Arlington St., Worcester, died Saturday May 7. He was born in Adrian, PA., son of Adam and Josephine Szczepanek, the youngest of three children he spent several of his early years living in Poland before returning here.
He was the beloved husband of the late Sophie (Ruchala) Szczepanek, devoted father of Barbara Nicholson and her husband John of York; and the late Charles Szczepanek, and father-in-law of Eleanor Dembitsky of Billerica and the late Frances (Lemanski) Szczepanek. He is survived by ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter, a sister, Bertha Konczanin and a grandson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the mid 1920’s in Nicaragua and Haiti. He worked at the Rutland Veteran’s Hospital and was affiliated with Norton Co. for over 30 years. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades and loved fishing, reading, storytelling, family poker and a good joke.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday May 11 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
