Roger W. Manning, age 91, passed away on Sunday August 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke on November 27, 1923to the late William and Lydia (Chouinard) Manning. He was a communicant of St Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Roger was a WWII Navy Veteran who survived two ships sinking while at sea. He worked for over 50 years at Holyoke Wire and Cable before retiring. He belonged to the Moose Lodge 1849 in Chicopee and was a Blue Jacket member. He was also a member of the Polish American Club in South Hadley and the Tigers AC Club in Chicopee. He enjoyed spending his mornings meeting with friends at Dunkin Donuts or exercising at the Baystate Cardiac Rehab Center. Roger was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots and playing cribbage. He had an infectious sense of humor, a generous heart and a love for his family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Roger was predeceased by his wife Regina (Buczek) Manning and by one son Roger E. Manning. He leaves one daughter, Rosemary Bey and her husband Ronald of Holyoke; four grandchildren, Kelly Dulude and her husband Damien, Gina Poole, Roger and Jenna Manning and four great grandchildren, Nicole Martin, Fiona-Rose Dulude, and Zoe and Gage Desabrais. He was also predeceased by one sister Cecile LaRosa and one brother Alfred Manning. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 14, 2015 at 10 AM from the Grise Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at 11 AM at St Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow in St Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday August 13, 2015 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
