David H. Mitchell, 52 of Derry, NH died on Friday, August 7th after a long courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Spencer, MA. , July 27, 1963. He was the son of the late Carl H. and Marie E. (Wedge) Mitchell.
David graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA at the top of his class in 1981. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in meteorological science at the University of Lowell in 1985. David was one of six graduates that received the president’s medal in recognition of his contributions to the university. David also served as vice president of his graduating class, and was appointed to five university councils. In addition, he served two years as the U. Lowell representative to the State Student Association of Massachusetts. In addition, David was elected Homecoming King for 1984-1985. He served as the U Lowell Chapter of the American Meteorology Society, and was captain of the society’s softball and volleyball teams, and was Senior Week Coordinator.
David was a Technical Sales Manager and Senior Project Manager for Cardno ATC in Woburn, MA for almost 30 years.
He was married to Kimberly (McClung) Mitchell. Besides his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Kevin David Mitchell and Katie Lynn Mitchell. He is also survived by his brother Steven Mitchell of East Brookfield, MA and Peter Mitchell of Dunedin, FL. , as well as many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. David was pre-deceased by his best friend and college roommate, Andrew P. Thomas of Chelmsford, MA. Andrew was also his brother-in-law and died three weeks prior to David.
Visiting Hours were held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 4 - 8pm at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry.
