Obituary

Paul E. Merlino, 103, longtime resident of Greensburg, PA died August 5, 2015 after a short period of declining health.
Born in Greensburg on March 13, 1912, he was the son of Joseph and Maria (Mancini) Merlino. He was educated in the Greensburg school system.
Prior to his retirement at the age of 99, he was a well-known and a beloved hairstylist. He took special pride in styling hair for the residents for as he would say “the old folks” at St. Anne’s Home, in Greensburg.
In his younger years, Paul and his brothers played in a band known as the Jack Merlin Orchestra. Later in life he played with a local senior band. He was a very active parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, having been an adult altar boy and a member of the church choir.
He was predeceased by his wife Catherine (Spehar) Merlino in 2011.
Family members include his daughter, Martha Saglime and husband Frank J. Jr. of Londonderry, NH; grandchildren, Frank J. Saglime III of East Aurora, NY, Veronica Chouinard and husband Dave of Hudson, NH; great-grandchildren, Paul and Maria Chouinard of Hudson, NH; one brother, Bernand Merlino of New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.
Donations may be made in his memory to Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, 235 Myrtle St, Manchester, NH or to Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish in Greensburg.
