Obituary

Cecilia Braithwaite, 91, a resident of New Bedford for most of her life died at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford on May 7, 2002 after a period of failing health. She lived in Falmouth from 1992 to 2000.

She was the wife of the late John J. Braithwaite, Sr. and daughter of the late Joseph Gomez and Eliza (Kilshaw) Lewis.

Born in New Bedford, she attended Holy Family High School and New Bedford High Night School and was employed as a bookkeeper. She loved to sing.

As a St. James Church Communicant in New Bedford she was a staunch advocate of the St. James Pro-Life Group and a member of the St. James Ladies Guild and the Monsignor Noon Circle .

She was a member and promoter of the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal for over 50 years and was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include 2 sons, John J. Braithwatie, Jr. of Marshfield and Gerard J. Braithwaite of Falmouth; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday, May 10th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting Hours Thursday, May 9th from 4-7 PM.

Entombment will be in the Notre Dame Mausoleum, 1540 Stafford Rd., Fall River.
