New Bedford – Elsie (Greenwood) Belanger, aged 91 years, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at St Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Tavares of North Dartmouth and her son Paul Belanger of Mattapoisett, 5 grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Lori, Jennifer and Rebecca and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Belanger was the sister of the late Alfred, Ralph, James, Walter and Wilfred Greenwood and Matilda Krenmeyer . She also leaves behind several nieces & nephews..
Mrs. Belanger was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all his life. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Wood) Greenwood. Mrs. Belanger was the head baker in the school cafeteria. She was a member of the Shark Swim Club and was a New England quarter mile champ
Her funeral will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford, MA. with services beginning at 11 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Monday May 9, 2005 from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
