Caleb Burnett Blair was born on March 13, 1918 in Savannah Cross, Clarendon, Jamaica to Sarah Dunkley and Theophilus Blair. Caleb entered into rest on July 24, 2015. Sarah Dunkley was from Clarendon and Theophilus was from St. Catherine. Caleb was a twin and his twin brother, Joshua Theophilus Blair, preceded him in death 18 years ago. Caleb had nine siblings in total.
Caleb was a very quiet, peaceful and hard working man. He was well loved and deeply respected by those in his community both in Jamaica and America. He spent most of his time in Jamaica until moving permanently to the U.S in October of 2007 where he lived out his final years.
In 1980 Caleb dedicated his life to the Lord in baptism at the Palmetto Pen Seventh Day Adventist Church in 19 Miles District, Clarendon Jamaica.
Caleb spent the best years of his life with his wife of 33 years, Evelyn Eunice Blair, and had lived together nine years before getting married. Their union produced nine children: Petaree, Joan, Dennis Noel, Pansey, Winnifred, Eunice, Norma and Calvin. Caleb was affectionately called “Daddy Sam” and he is survived by 36 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 2, at 12 noon at the Berea Seventh Day Adventist Church, 108 Seaver Street, Roxbury with Pastor Omar Jarvis officiating.
Graveside services will take place on Monday, August 3, at 10AM at the Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
