Maurice J. Couture, age 88, passed away surrounded by his family on July 31, 2015 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born on April 28, 1927 in Berlin, NH to the late Jules and Laura (Carrier) Couture. He was a communicant of Assumption Church in Chicopee. He served in France and Germany in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a Lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 19 in Chicopee and also a member of the VFW Post 273 in Madera, FL. He was an avid boater and enjoyed camping, skiing, traveling and the winters in Florida. He worked for 40 years at the American Bosch before retiring in 1986. Maurice was predeceased by his loving wife Marcella (Pouliot) Couture who passed away in 2007. He leaves two sons Richard Couture and his wife Katherine of Montgomery and Michael Couture and his wife Pamela of Chicopee; two daughters Jacqueline Mizula and her husband William of Northampton and Suzanne Page and her fiancé Donald Benoit of South Hadley; two sisters Madeline Girard and Monique Thibodeauboth of FL; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother Claude Couture and two sisters Alice Denoncourt and Yvonne Pouliot. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday Aug 6, 201510:30 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM at Holy Name Parish in the Assumption Church. Burial will follow with military honors in Calvary Cemetery. Calling Hours will held on the morning of the funeral Thurs Aug 6, 2015 from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
