TEWKSBURY - Blanche E. Brisendine, age 87, an active member of Tewksbury’s Senior
community, died Friday, May 6, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late James R. Brisendine, who died in 1974.
She was born in Everett, Sept. 16, 1917, a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (McIntyre)
Savage, and was raised by her mother and step-father, the late William Elsea, in Everett. She had
lived in the greater Lowell area throughout her life.
She was a secretary at Hanscomb Air Force Base’s Base Supply and Procurement Division. She
later worked as a secretary for Tewksbury’s Housing Board, at Saunder’s Circle.
She was active in the senior community in Tewksbury, where she was a member of the Golden
Age Club, and a frequent visitor to the Senior Drop-In Center.
She enjoyed sewing, crochet, and knitting.
She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Patricia Boucher and her husband J. Frank of
Tewksbury; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn (McCartney) Wilcox of Lowell; a brother and sister-in-
law, William V. and Charlotte Elsea of Peabody; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruby and
Darfow Rice of VA; five grandchildren, Donna Costin of Malden, Suzie Heffernan of Lowell,
James Wilcox and William Boucher both of Lowell, Lori-Ann Langell of Westford; seven great
grandchildren; and one great grandson.
She was also mother of the late Donald Wilcox.
Her funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 10, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Visiting hours Monday 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Tewksbury Cemetery.
