Obituary

Josephine D. Gilman, 92, of Londonderry, NH, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 in the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Mrs. Gilman was born in Holliston, MA on May 11, 1912, a daughter of the late Sidney and Lydia (Higgins) Dowdell. She was a resident of Londonderry, formerly living in Carlisle, MA and Westford, MA. Mrs. Gilman was a featured writer for the Worcester Telegram and the Yankee Magazine. She also played live piano for WBZ Radio in Boston. She had worked as an antique dealer with her husband and had also designed and sold handmade Christmas decorations. Mrs. Gilman cared for her ailing husband who suffered from Parkinson's for 35 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Dadian and her husband Al of Londonderry, Anne Gutheil of Carlisle, MA, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Gilman who died in 1990.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 6th at 11:00am in the Fairview Cemetery, Main & Tadmuck St., Westford, MA. Friends may call on Thursday from 7 - 9pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to the the Capital Campaign for Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
