CHELMSFORD: Shirley A. (Harrison) Russell, age 78, a resident of Chelmsford for over 35 years, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of the late Rev. Warren D. Russell, Jr., who died April 22, 1983.
Born in Somerville on July 31, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Cora (Smith) Harrison. Mrs. Russell was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville schools. She later attended Fisher Junior College, the Pan American Secretarial School in Richmond, VA and Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, PA.
Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed as a receptionist by the Wang Laboratories in Lowell.
Mrs. Russell was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Chelmsford for over 35 years. She was former member of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury.
Mrs. Russell enjoyed arts and crafts, music, journaling and attending church functions and gatherings.
She is survived by 1 sister; Alda Cyphers of Braintree; 1 brother; Morris Harrison and his wife Norma of Gilford, NH; 2 nephews; Eric Cyphers and Alan Harrison; 2 nieces; Donna Kelley and Nancy Harrison.
Mrs. Russell was the mother of the late Robert D. Russell.
Calling hours Thursday, May 5th from 4-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral services Friday, May 6th at 1 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church, 9 Academy St., Chelmsford. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. At Shirley’s request please Omit Flowers.
