Walter Correia, 88, of New Bedford died May 5, 2002 at The Oaks Nursing Home.
Mr. Correia was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mr. Correia was employed at Fiber Leather as a machine operator for 42 years until his retirement in 1976.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
Survivors include 2 sister-in-laws, Rose Correia of Dartmouth and Mary Thornton-Correia of New Bedford; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a great-great-nephew.
He was the brother of the late Lucy Frates, Anna C. Sylvia, Arnold Correia, Wilburn Correia and Donald Correia.
