GAFFURI- Jessica Marie (Nichols) , “MOM” , April 28, 2005, of Brockton, formerly of South Easton and Florida, passed away peacefully , after a brief illness, at her home , under the care of The Hospice of Greater Brockton and Boston. She was 84 years old. She was the wife of the late Philip J. Gaffuri. She was also the daughter of the late Benjamin and Amanda (Little) Nichols.
Mrs. Gaffuri was born July 7, 1920 in Moores Creek, Kentucky and was raised in Cincinatti, Ohio. She was a thirty year resident of the Brockton area.
Mrs. Gaffuri was employed as a waitress for various restaurants which included the Former Red Coach Grill and the former Four Hundred.
She and her late husband owned and operated P&J Gaffuri Kennels and raced Greyhounds in both Massachusetts and Florida.
Jessie loved to cook and was an avid gardener, but most of all, she was a great, loving, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Benson, with whom she made her home, and her husband Glenn, of Brockton, another daughter, Betty Ruecker and a son Joseph B. Verosik, both of California. She is also survived by her loving grandsons, Paul Barstad of Brockton, Matt and Shaun Verosik of California, a granddaughter Theresa Aparicio of California and her great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Janice, Erika, Emily and Cameron Philip. She was also a sister to the late Betty Hynes, Alfred, Robert and Ted (“Buck”) Nichols. Also survived by her dear nieces and nephews, MaryAnn Murphy of Duxbury, Elisabeth Gaffuri of Hull, Ann Gaffuri of Milton and Robert and Philip Gaffuri, both of Hull.
The Benson - Barstad family is planning a celebration of “Moms Life” at a later date. “Mom there’s a new shining star in the sky.” We love you.

At her request, visiting hours have been omitted and her funeral services will be private. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton.
