John Pershing Bennett Jr. passed away suddenly from a brief illness in Boston, MA on July 30, 2015. He was 69 Years old.
John was born on February 13, 1946 in Stoneham, MA to John Bennett and Mary (Barahona) Bennett. He attended Malden Public Schools. John Married his best friend, Donna (Caron) Bennett on September 17, 1967.
John Worked for the Malden DPW before retiring. He also owned his own floor and rug cleaning Company. John was affiliated with the Boy Scouts, Malden Babe Ruth, and coaching Malden baseball and soccer. He volunteered for many years as a firefighter for Malden Emergency Center and Medford Auxiliary Fire Department. His passion was his family and DJ’ing parties.
John is survived by his wife, Donna (Caron) Bennett of Malden. He was the beloved father of Lori and son in-law, Paul Spadafora Jr. of Saugus, and his son Michael Bennett and daughter in-law Colleen (Kelly) Bennett of Lynn. John was the cherished grandfather of Christopher Walker, Victoria Bjorkman, Jarrod Bennett, Alyssa Bennett and Kaitlyn Bennett. He was the dear brother of Paul Bennett and his wife Debbie of Malden and Kevin Bennett and his wife Karen of Endicott, NY. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Thursday August 6th at 9:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church 297 Main Street, Malden at 10:00a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday August 5th from 4-8p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
