Obituary

WEBSTER – Alice R. Grzelecki, age 87, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family at her side on July 28, 2015. Deeply loved, Alice will be greatly missed. She leaves her children: Linda Ramsey of Webster, Bruce and his wife Mary Ann of Whitinsville, Wayne and his wife Paula of Webster, and Susan Murzycki of Thompson, CT. Alice was proud of her grandchildren Renee, Michelle and Rick Ramsey, Randy Grzelecki, Mark, Michael and Jaime Murzycki, and her step-granddaughters, Kim Baldassano and Darlene Caton of California. She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother and a great-great-grandmother.
Alice also leaves her devoted brother, Robert Kokernak and his wife Lorraine of Webster and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Tedausz in 1986, by her brothers Maurice “Flash” Ashleigh and Walter Kokernak, and by her sister Eleanora Gadoury. Alice was born on Slater Street to Stephen and Bertha (Fuchs) Kokernak and was a lifelong resident of Webster and Dudley.
Alice worked as a colorist at Stevens Linen (Ardlock) for over 35 years where she formed many lasting friendships. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford. She enjoyed vacations on the Cape with her grandchildren and bus trips to New York City with “the girls.” She found relaxation in reading, listening to the musical standards of the 50’s and 60’s and watching a good episode of “Law and Order.” Most importantly, Alice derived pleasure from family gatherings.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kathryn Edminson, Beth Keating and the nuses at UMASS Oncology Center. A special thank you to “our” Lynne Caty, Michelle and Jeanine of Central Mass. Hospice, and the staff from the VNA for their compassion and care. The family is especially grateful to Francis Speights and Colleen Denham who gave Alice such outstanding care, especially in her final weeks.
At Alice’s request, there are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in her name may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main St., Oxford, MA 01540. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral home, 340 School Streeet.
