Carol Tucker Byrd, 67, of Sycamore passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held Monday, July 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore with Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter, Rev. Donnie Duncan and Dr. Jerry Kennedy officiating. Mrs. Byrd will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Sycamore. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 26, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Byrd will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
James Wise, Doug Ellis, Phillip Nichols, Jimmy Abel, Gary Abel, Jared Aveil, Eric Rutland and Wayne Markham will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Charles Willingham Sunday school class at Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore.
Mrs. Byrd was born February 11, 1948 in Tifton, the daughter of R. J. Tucker and Beatrice Gray Tucker, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Drake Walker. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by her husband, Charles Jimmy Byrd of Sycamore; one son, Charles Jimmy II and Pamela York Byrd of Sycamore; two daughters, Mica and Bert Gorday of Rebecca and Rachel Walker of Sycamore; one brother, Mike Tucker of Manchester, Tennessee; one sister, Joyce Barry of Americus; six grandchildren, Barrie Byrd, Rayana Walker, Analee Gorday, Hunter Pilkinton, Drew Pilkinton and Alexis Pilkinton; and one uncle, Aubrey Gray of Tifton.
