CHICOPEE – Stella O. (Boucher) Brown, 101, formerly of Wallace Avenue in the Fairview section of Chicopee and of Massachusetts Avenue in Ludlow was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Birch Manor in Chicopee where she had been a resident for the past 11 years surrounded by the love, affection and comfort of her devoted family and caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on March 3, 1914, a beloved daughter of the late Edouard L. and Eva (Couture) Boucher. She was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and later moved to Wallace Avenue in Fairview where she lived until moving in with her daughter, Terry and son-in-law, Chip, to their home in Ludlow in 1988. She was employed for many years at the former National Blank Book in Holyoke and retired in 1975. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a spirited woman who always spoke her mind and immediately became your friend. Until two weeks ago, Stella was playing cards with her son, Vinny and won the game. She was known as the “Visiting Ambassador” to her many friends that she made over the past 11 years while at Birch Manor. Her family is most grateful to the residents and the entire staff of Health Care Providers who so lovingly cared for her. She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, George, Paul, Charles, Albert, Armand, Cecile, Claire, Lillian and Yvette as well as her beloved husband, Vincent G. Brown who was Called Home on November 4, 1988. They were married on October 12, 1940 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with 48 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Vincent G. Brown of Holyoke and Theresa E. “Terry” Rivest and her husband, Robert “Chip”, of Ludlow and Orlando, FL; her three cherished grandchildren, Susan R. Foster and her husband, James, of Centennial, CO, Eric V. Brown of Martinsburg, WV and Adam R. Rivest and his partner, Kirk Niccum, of Orlando, FL; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Steven M. Saetta, Rachel R. Brown and Sara A. Brown; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Brown and Boucher families. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Her burial will follow the Service at Precious Blood Cemetery, Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
