
Sherman Parker, Jr., 89, of Poulan passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his daughter’s residence in Sylvester. His funeral service will be held Friday, July 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. John Aaron White and Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating. Mr. Parker will be laid to rest at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Parker’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Parker was born March 14, 1926 in Mitchell County, the son of Sherman Parker, Sr. and Odessa Goddard Parker, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Duggan Parker; two sons, Wayne Parker and Gary Parker; one brother, Harley Parker; two sisters, Aline Parker and Lois Holt; and two grandchildren. He retired from Coats & Clark and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Parker is survived by his children and their spouses, Patricia and Wendell Horten of Sylvester, Steve Parker and his fiancé Trisha of Sylvester, Joye Parker of Sylvester, Kay Parker and Darin of Leesburg, Jay and Elizabeth Parker of Jasper; one sister, Dessie Mae Bennett of Tifton; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Linda Parker of Ashburn and June Parker of Sylvester.
