Obituary

Joseph E. “Nana” Carcerano, 80 of Medford died Saturday after a long illness in the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, MA.

Born in Boston, he lived in Medford for the past 30 years and formerly of the North End of Boston. Joseph was the son of the late Giulia (Corvo) and Giuseppe Carcerano.
Mr. Carcerano was a painter for 30 years with the former MDC and retired in 1984. Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in the Philippine Islands and received the Bronze Star, Army of Occupation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the World War Victory Medal. Mr. Carcerano was a member and Past Commander 1990-19991 of the V. F. W. Post 6712 Beachmont. He also was Vice President of the Corporation, State Commander 1990-1991 and presently a member of the Board of Directors.

Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Caverly) Carcerano. Devoted father of James C. Carcerano of Revere, and Giulia Bussone of Beverly. Cherished Papa of Andrew, Giulia, Amanda, Emily, and Alicia. Brother of Frances Frate, Madeline Colvario both of Winthrop, Josephine Petito of Peabody, and the late Louis and Salvatore Carcerano.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, at 9:45 AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8.

Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
