Clayton W. Soper, age 19, of Winchester, passed away suddenly on July 18, 2015. He was the beloved son of Geoff and Genny (Stark) Soper and very devoted brother of Ted and Allie Soper. He brightened the lives of his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and the many friends he made wherever he went. Clay lived each day to its fullest and approached it with a great sense of humor. He loved to walk into a room and make everyone smile. He was a passionate skier who spent his winters racing with the BBTS Ski Club in Waterville Valley, NH. He enjoyed tall mountains, deep snow, first tracks and his dog, Kota. He just completed his freshman year at the University of Denver in Colorado and was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Born and raised in Winchester, Clay was a 2014 graduate of Winchester High School, where he played soccer and lacrosse, and captained the Alpine Ski Team. Clay volunteered weekly at Youth Enrichment Services (YES) in Boston where he learned the importance of providing opportunities for all. Clay loved people. People loved Clay.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the Winchester Town Hall Auditorium, 71 Mt. Vernon St., on Thurs., July 23 @ 4:00PM for a Farewell Service. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clay’s memory may be made to Youth Enrichment Services (YES), 412 Mass Ave, Boston, MA 02118 , or www.yeskids.org.
NOTE: Due to the limited parking in downtown Winchester, people are encouraged to walk, if possible, or carpool. There is some parking available at Costello Funeral Home and St. Mary's School parking lots, both located on Washington St. within walking distance of the Town Hall. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
There are no Visiting Hours. The Service begins at 4:00 PM, and we anticipate it will conclude between 5-5:30PM. Because of the large amount of floral arrangements already received and expected, those wishing to send flowers are encouraged instead to support Youth Enrichment Services (address above), an organization that was dear to Clay.
A live broadcast of the service, starting at 3:45 PM, can be viewed at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/clays
A reception will follow the service at the home of Geoff and Genny Soper, 233 Main St., Winchester (yellow house at Symmes Corner).
