Richard H. Duarte, 60, of Fall River died April 27th, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Antonio Duarte and Eunice E. (Watkins) Duarte Carter, he had lived in Boston before moving to Fall River a few years ago.
He was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Duarte was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and was a standout athlete in basketball and football.
Survivors include his former wife, Peggy Darden of Jacksonville, Fla.; 2 sons, Joseph Andrews of New Bedford and Richard H. Duarte, Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; 2 daughters, Kim C. Chapman, and her husband James, of Copperas Cove, TX, and Frances Duarte of Jacksonville.; 4 brothers, Robert Duarte, and his wife Victoria, Bruce Duarte, and his wife Priscilla, and John Duarte, all of New Bedford, and David Duarte, and his wife Pamela, of Washington, DC; a sister, Donna Duarte of Providence, RI.; 9 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the International Church of the Nazarene, Saturday, April 30th at 9 AM.
Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Friday, April 29th from 5-8 PM.
