
Vincent “Jim” Porrazzo, 70, passed away at his home following a extended illness, beloved husband of Helen (Viglas).
The son of the late Mary (Loriso) and James V. Porrazzo. Jim was raised in Boston, and for 48 years was a Medford resident.
He was the first recorded heart transplant, in the City of Medford over twelve years ago.
Jim was a truck mechanic by trade and enjoyed his work and friendship with his fellow workers at Mutrie Trucking of Waltham, Riverside Riggers and Specialized Movers of Medford, and Charles Ice Cream of Medford before he retired. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his wife Helen, Jim is survived by one daughter Andrea Martinello of Medford, two sons, Ted Porrazzo of Medford, Jay Porrazzo and his wife Theresa Marie of Medford. Six loving grandchildren, Jamie, Robert, Ryan, Jake, Adrienne and Max.One Sister Anna Guerra of Revere, five brothers, David, Joseph and Frank Porrazzo of CA., John and Louis Porrazzo of Revere.
His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford on Wednesday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. Followed by a funeral service in the First Community United Methodist Church, 55 Otis St. Medford at 11:30. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9.
