LOWELL—Bernard H. Luppold, 78 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Monday at the Jamaica Plain Veterans Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn T. (Sousa) Luppold, with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage.
He was born in Lowell, on August 22, 1926, a son of the late Bernard H. and Leola M. (Gardner) Luppold. He was a graduate of St. Michael’s Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mr. Luppold served in the United States Navy during World War II and again during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he was employed as an Offset Pressman working many years for the Courier Citizen Corp. and Murray Printing, in Westford. He had also worked for Rogers Printing and Shawprint, of Lowell.
Surviving him are a four sons and two daughters-in-law: Gary B. Luppold, of Tempe, AZ; Steven G. ‘Jake’ Luppold, of Lowell; Michael W. and Andrea Luppold, of East Hampstead, NH; and Eric D. Luppold and Cathy Miller, of Methuen, MA; a daughter and son-in-law: Patricia A. and Darrin Gagnon, of Hudson, NH; two brothers: George W. and Rita Luppold, of Union, NJ; and William G. and Gail Luppold, of Westford; a sister-in-law: Joan Luppold, of Hemet, CA; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late: John ‘Pat’ Luppold and Muriel Dumas.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 28th, from 4 until 8 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, April 29th, at 10 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
