
Fall River – William “Bill” L. Rioux, 65, of Arlington Avenue, Westport died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Elaine C. (Fontaine) Rioux.
He was born in Fall River, a son of the late Lionel J. and Rosa (Bastile) Rioux, and was a lifelong resident of Westport. Mr. Rioux was a graduate of Westport High School Class of 1958 and a graduate of Bristol Community College in 1972. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement he was a police officer for the Town of Westport for 14 years, during which he was the first K-9 officer in town. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police Association.
Including his wife, he is survived by 3 sons: Brian W. Rioux and his wife Diana of Westport, Darrin W. Rioux and his wife Madeline of Westport and Kevin Rioux of Westport; a daughter: Monique E. Jones and her husband Rodney of Newport, RI; a brother: Donald Rioux of Westport; 6 sisters: Bunnie Gasperini of Somerset, Claudette Cote of Dartmouth, Jeanne Ozon of Orleans, MA, Rosemary Cooper of Berkley, Linda Carreiro of New Bedford and Mary Annunziato of Taunton; 4 grandchildren: Jessica Rioux, Zachary Rioux, Jeremy Rioux and Avante Jones.
He was the brother of the late Gertrude Christian.
Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, May 7, 2005 at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
