Assunta (Staiti) Diara, 100, of Fairhaven died Friday April 22, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Diara.
Born in Messina, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of the late Leo and Sarina (Crisafulli) Staiti, she lived in the United States since 1920.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Irene D. Portway of Fairhaven, and Lydia S. Rieger of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Joseph Staiti of Milton and Gustave LaStaiti of Mattapoisett; and three grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Lillian Voci and Fred Staiti.
Her private Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, April 26th in St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford.
