Obituary

SALEM- Cleopatra Damanis, of Salem, died Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2005 at her residence following a brief illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Kastarakis) Damanis and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Prior to her retirement, she employed for 25 years at Gowns by Priscilla in Boston, where she started out as a stitcher, then a fitter, and then on to samples, before becoming a designer and later a supervisor.

She attended Salem schools and graduated from Modern School of Fashion and Design in Boston. She taught sewing at evening school in Salem for many years and was a member of the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody.

Miss Damanis is survived by several cousins and was the sister of the late Charles Damanis and Evelyn Damanis.

Her funeral will be Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral service at 10 am at the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 5 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
