Anita Churpeck, 69, of Ojai, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 with her loving family at her side. Anita was born October 26, 1945 in Lorain, Ohio and was a Ventura County resident for the past 44 years.
She worked for the Ojai Unified School District as an Autism Special Education Specialist for 24 years. Anita was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church where she was a Religious Education Teacher, served on the Bereavement Committee, was a Home Eucharistic Minister, worked at the Saturday Food Pantry, and was a member of a bible study group and the Adoration Prayer Group. She was also a member of the Ojai Christian Women's Club, the P.T.A., and the Ojai Education Foundation.
Anita is survived by her beloved husband John S. Hook; sons and daughters-in-law Greg and Carla Churpeck of Valencia, Tom and Nichole Churpek of Ojai; brothers Marino Difrancesco, Frank Difrancesco, and Paul Difrancesco, all of Lorain, Ohio; sister Delores Tompkins of Elyria, Ohio; granchildren Merrik, Audrey, Claire, and Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband George on July 4th, 2005, brother Steven Difrancesco, and sister Tina Del Grosso.
Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 20th, 2015 at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 East Main Street, Ventura. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Ojai. Burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery in Santa Paula. After the burial there will be a reception held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Hall in Ojai.
