John “Jack” E. McGillen, 78 of Derry, NH died July 11, 2015. He was born May 25, 1937 to the late Edward and Sylvia (Tuttle) McGillen in Nashua, NH. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Richard “Dick” McGillen. Jack was a US Navy veteran stationed on the USS Vulcan. He was an auto mechanic at D & J Auto in Derry, and former owner of Jack’s Circle Getty in Derry.
He loved his family and was well known for his easy going optimistic manner. He was a beloved father, grandfather and uncle and will be dearly missed
He is survived by four daughters, Kathleen McGillen of Manchester NH, Karen McGillen of Manchester, NH, Heidi Tanner and husband Michael of Dunbarton, NH, and Sherri McGillen of Indiana; five grandchildren, Travis, Kelly, Elizabeth, Taylor and Joshua; sister-in law Edith “Edie” McGillen; nephew Mike McGillen of Auburn, NH; and niece Patricia Chirichiello and husband Brian.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Saturday, July 18th from 10am – 12pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, followed by a memorial service at 12pm in the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
