William Howell “Bill” Griffin, Sr., 78, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Irwinville Baptist Church with the Rev. Stan Bowen, Rev. Jerry Wilson and Rev. Maurice Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Griffin was born in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Rafe and Othie McGuire Griffin. He was retired from the Georgia Cigar and Tobacco Company, a division of Hav-A-Tampa Cigar Company. He was former Owner/Operator of Griffin’s Auto Sales in Fitzgerald and Griffin’s Garage in Irwinville and had lived in Irwinville for the past 26 years having moved from Albany. He was a member of Irwinville Baptist Church and a deacon.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of 59 years: Bobbie L. (Burton) Griffin, Irwinville; Daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Danny Harris, Albany, Georgia; Son and daughter-in-law: William Howell “Billy” and Susan C Griffin, Jr., Albany, Georgia: 3 Grandchildren: Leann Sumner, Macon, Georgia, Kim Griffin, Nashville, Tennessee and Dana Tucker, Albany, Georgia; and 4 great-grandchildren.
