Dorothy Mae (Holmes) Davis a former Needham resident for 40 years died on Wednesday April 20 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was 79 years old. Mrs. Davis was born in Stoughton MA and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She lived in Needham for 40 years before moving to Pocasset in 1990. Mrs. Davis was active with the Needham Youth Commission for 15 years and was also an active member of the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church and the Needham Garden Club. When she moved to Pocasset, Mrs. Davis became active in garden clubs on Cape Cod and was a member of the Cataumet Methodist Church. For many years she was a member of the New England Beetle Cat Boat Association, and the Tahanto Yacht Club. Throughout the years, she was active with her late husband’s Dartmouth College Class of 1944. The beloved wife for over 53 years of the late Richard A. Davis, she leaves her children Bruce C. of Houston TX, Kenneth R. of Easthampton NY, Roy A. of Scituate, Mark W. of Southboro and Judy Switzer of Franklin. She ws the sister of Howard Holmes of Framingham, Richard Holmes of Hudson and the late Robert Holmes of Natick. She was the dear grandmother of 9 grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham (Exit 19B off Rte 128) on Monday April 25 at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Sunday from 205 PM. Interment will be private.
