SALEM- Margaret Jean (MacKinnon) Conners, 84, wife of the late Edwin M. Conners, of Salem, died Thursday morning, April 21, 2005, in the Peabody Glen Nursing Home, Peabody, following a long illness.
Born in P.E.I., Canada, she was the daughter of the late Scott & Grace (MacNevin) MacKinnon and was a resident of Salem for over 60 years.
She and her late husband founded Conners Esso and Gulf Service Station, the Whistle Stop Lounge and the Trackside Restaurant & Pub, Salem. She was employed at Metcom as a Quality Control Inspector for 10 years during the mid 60's to 70's and was a lunch aide at Bentley School in the 1960s.
Mrs Conners came to the United States as a child, settling in Virginia before moving to Salem in the early 1940's. She was a member of the Polish Falcons, Nest #188, Salem, and an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Salem.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick D. Conners of Salem, Edward W. and his wife Lorraine of Fremont, NH, 4 grandchildren, Jason Conners of Ketchum, Idaho, Adrienne Conners of Epping, NH, Nathan Conners and Jonathan Conners of Fremont, NH, one brother, George and his wife Jennie MacKinnon of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John MacKinnon and Mary Daley.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 11 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11 am, prior to the service. Relatives and friends invited.
