Obituary

WORCESTER___Andrej Szemetun, 86, of 27 Perry Ave., died Monday April 18 in his home. His wife, Halina (Cecurowa) Szemetun died in 1996.

He leaves a son, Val E. F. Szemetun of Worcester; a daughter, Ludmilla Ciccone of West Hollywood, Ca., and a granddaughter, Tatiana Maria Ciccone of West Hollywood, Ca. He was born and raised in the Ukraine, son of Philip and Natalka (Pidorwan) Szemetun and lived there until the outbreak of World War II. He then lived in Germany and later in France. He came to the United States in 1956 and has lived here 49 years.

Mr. Szemetun worked many years for Brown Shoe Co., and retired when the company closed. He was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection.

The funeral will be held on Friday April 22 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Service at 10 a.m. in the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection, 63 Laurel St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday April 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Requiem service will be held at 7 p.m. during calling hours.
