Mrs. Mary Rita (Murphy) MacKinnon, of Taunton, died Wednesday, July 8 at her residence following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late John D. MacKinnon. She was born 81 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Kevican) Murphy. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. A homemaker, Mary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her beloved pets, Mack and Birdie. She was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Parish in Taunton.
She leaves: 4 sons: Brian MacKinnon and his wife, Lynn of Aurora, CO., Neil MacKinnon and his wife, Candace of Taunton, John MacKinnon of Taunton, and Paul MacKinnon of Buzzards Bay; 2 daughters: Sharon Babbitt and her husband, Lenny of Taunton, and Kathy MacKinnon of FL.; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mary was also the mother of the late Bruce MacKinnon, and the sister of the late Jackie Murphy, James Mott, and Gertrude Mott Leonard.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, July 11 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Service, Saturday, from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M.
