Obituary

Anthony R. “Tony” Silvia, 81, of Little Compton died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Catherine (Fagundes) Silvia to whom he was married for 60 years.
Born in Providence, he was son of the late Anthony and Olive (Carvalho) Silvia. Prior to retirement from Bonanza Bus Line, he was a Little Compton Firefighter and a member of the Little Compton Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton. Mr. Silvia was a member of the RI Antique Tractor Club where he was an award winning participant in local tractor pulls and a former member of the Vasco da Gama Portuguese American Society. Mr. Silvia was a loving grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
Including his wife, survivors include two sons: Anthony R. “Tony” Silvia, Jr. of Little Compton and Joseph L. Silvia of Little Compton; three daughters: Marie Landsberger and her husband Randy of Toluca Lake, CA, Terry Boudreau and her husband Bill of Little Compton and Juanita Holland and her husband Jeremiah of Tiverton; a sister: Anna Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI; eleven grandchildren: Megan, Aimee, Lauren, Caitlin, Renee, Marisa, Arianne, Natalie, Brett, Bailey and Dylan; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Raymond Silvia, Larry Silvia, Henry Silvia, Eleanor White and Elizabeth Silvia.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Potter Funeral Home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours Friday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton.
