Obituary

Robert F. Williams,79, of 1653 W.Main St., died Monday April 18 at home following a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Florence R. (Laincz) Williams, two sons John E. and his wife Linda Williams of Holden and Peter F. and his wife Joanne Williams of Londonderry, N.H., three daughters Susan E. and her husband Anthony Penny of Paxton, Karen A. and her husband James Durant of Leicester and Elizabeth A. and her husband John Guerin of Worcester, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters Rita B. Ferguson of Auburn and Joan K. Mullett of Spencer.
He was born in Worcester, the son of John S. and Lillian C. (Bell) Williams and lived in Worcester and Auburn before moving here in 1933. He attended Leicester Schools.
Mr. Williams was a commercial salesman for Commonwealth Gas Co. (now NSTAR) for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He was past President of the Gasco Club for many yeras as well as past Director, President and Chairman of the Board of Comm. Gas Employee Credit Union before retiring in 1989. He served as a Submariner in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
His hobbies to include woodworking, auto mechanics and home maintenance. Most of all he enjoyed his family.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 21 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow with a graveside service in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
