Obituary

Bernadette I. Binette, 96, of Laconia died April 15, 2005 in the St. Francis Home after a period of failing health. She was born in Laconia on December 6, 1908, the daughter of Ernest and Amanda (Lavigne) Dargy.

She lived most of her married life in Plymouth and was the widow of Henri Binette who died in 1960. She had been employed in the cafeteria of Plymouth State College and following her retirement in 1976 returned to Laconia.

Mrs. Binette was known to her family as “Nana B” and to her friends as “Bunny”. She enjoyed her family to the fullest and had a very strong, high-spirited personality.

The last ten years she was at St. Francis Home where she enjoyed activities including arts and crafts, bingo, musical entertainment and was an avid jigsaw puzzle maker.

Family members include three daughters, Anita Hussey of Laconia, Lucille Moody of Pittsburgh, PA and Marie Monier of Laconia; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a step great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial reception was held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM. A celebration of her life ceremony was held in the funeral home at 7 PM. Private urn burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home Activity Fund, c/o St. Francis Home, 406 Court St., Laconia NH 03246.
