Tomoko "Tommie" (Yamaguchi) Hamelin, 73, of 113 Charlton Road, died Sunday April 10, in her home after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 51 years Joseph A. Hamelin, two daughters Elizabeth A. Hamelin of Santa Monica, CA and Marcia J. Hamelin of Weston, CT, four grandchildren Kristen, Libby, Janey and Henry, a brother Kurao Yamaguchi of Japan, three sisters Atamo, Akuchan and Katzue Yamaguchi all of Japan and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hamelin was born in Sakai, Japan the daughter of Tatsuya and Sumi (Handa) Yamaguchi. She was a seamstress at White Cleaners for 17 years before retiring. She was a member and a sacristan at St. Mary's Church. She was active with the St. Vincent's Hospital Women's Guild and a former associate member of the Spencer Lions Club. She graduated from the Braille Institute and translated several books for the blind. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, April 14 in St. Mary's Church, 60 Maple Street, Spencer. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y., 10163. J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace is directing arrangements.
