Clara Ferris (George) Dorr,81, of 1 Sunset Dr., passed away from this life on Tuesday, April 12 at her home, following a valiant battle with non-smokers lung cancer.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Milton E. Dorr, four daughters Lois Dorr-Wicklund and her husabnd Carl of Leicester, Nancy Herholz and her husband Bruce of Spencer, Barbara Knox and her husband Michael of Leicester and Mary De Leon and her husband Stephen of Fremont, Calif., a brother George George of Walpole, two sisters Maxine Hattam of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Delores George of Worcester. Clara and Milton were blessed with ten grandchildren, Jared, Jesslyn and Jonah Wicklund, Bret, Mathew, Mathew's wife Kristen, and Patricia Herholz, Jessica, Lindsey, and Lynda Knox and Jay De Leon. She is predeceased by brothers Michael, Frank, and Victor George.
She was fifth of eight children born to Lebanese immigrants Thomas and Sophie (Abraham) George. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade School in Worcester.
Clara also leaves behind the community of Leicester, for she touched so many lives with her friendship and generosity leaving those that did not know her in the minority.
She was also an outstanding member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she unselfishly gave of her time through volunteering, devotion, love and friendship.
We are a blessed family and community having had the opportunity to know Clara as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Although we will miss her physical presence, we will cherish all the memories she has given us. Thank you for everything.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16 at Noon in Christ Episcopal Church, 1089 Stafford St., in the Rochdale section of Leicester. Calling hours at the Church will precede the service from 10a.m. to Noon on Saturday. Following cremation burial of her ashes will be held at a later date in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 142, Rochdale, Ma. 01542.
