Phillip J. Croft, 89, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Tommy Land, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Croft was born September 5, 1925, in Colquitt County, Georgia, to the late Ben & Julia Mae Kinard Croft. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II having been stationed in Scotland, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He attended radio school and worked at Spence Field in Moultrie for 9 years. He had a long career with the State of Georgia working in Law Enforcement as well as Communications for 32 years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Croft loved to spend time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading his Bible.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Prescott Croft of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Randall & Rose Croft of Douglas, Kenny & Karen Croft of Abbeville, Julie & David Spicer of Fitzgerald, Jeanie & Browne Harper of Fitzgerald, Bruce & Heidi Harper of Ocilla, and Rhonda & Teddy Mixon of Ocilla; grandchildren and their spouses: Brandi & Jamie Baggett, Phil & T.J. Croft, Travis & Dana Shinholster, Lisa & Paul Smith, and Alan Mixon; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Andy & Inez Croft of Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers.
