PEARL L. (MADISON) CHILD, of Holbrook, formerly of Randolph and Hingham, died peacefully on Monday, April 11th at the Braintree Manor Nursing Home in Braintree where she lived for the past year. She was 96.
Born in Quincy, she moved to Hingham as a young child, graduating from Hingham schools in 1925. Known as "Grama Pearl" to everyone, she loved baking and taking care of her grandchildren and the children in her neighborhood. Mrs. Child remembered just horse and buggies in Hingham and said, "Everyone would come running when the first cars appeared." She left Hingham in 1961 to live in Randolph and then Holbrook. She was a dedicated Boston Red Sox and wrestling fan.
Wife of the late Linton W. Child, Sr., she leaves her two sons; Linton W. Child, Jr. and his wife Mary of South Boston and Richard A. "Skip" Child and his wife Julie of Holbrook.
Grandmother of Brian G. Child of Marshfield and Audra A. Kelliher of Shrewsbury. Great Grandmother of Madison L. and Patrick R. Child of Marshfield; Grace A. and Thomas P. Kelliher of Shrewsbury. Also survived by 3 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 4 nieces.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 16th at 10 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Friday evening from 7-9 PM.
The Interment will be in the Hingham Cemetery.
