EPAMINONDAS N. "PAUL" GIANIBAS ,age 66, a Hull resident for most of his life, died on Monday, April 11th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness.
Mr. Gianibas was born, raised and educated in Boston. He was a self-employed caterer and well known on the South Shore as "Chef Paul."
He was a member of the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church in Cohasset and was a former member of St. John's Greek Orthodox Church in Boston. Mr. Gianibas was an active member of many civic and fraternal organizations, including the Hingham Rotary Club, the Old Colony Masonic Lodge in Hingham, was a Shriner at the Alleppo Temple in Boston and a volunteer at the Shriners Burns Institute, also in Boston.
He was the brother of Maria G. Brountas and her husband Arthur of Bangor, Maine and the late Peter Gianibas. Uncle of Penny Rees and her husband Kim of Brewer, Maine,
Jeannie Brountas of Brookline, Peter Brountas and his wife Heather of Bangor, Maine, Lisa Harrigan and her husband William, Theresa McDonald and her husband Brian and Nicholas Gianibas and his wife Martha all of Hull. Great uncle of Brett and Kyle Rees;Jessica Brountas; Taylor, Samantha and Thomas Harrigan; Brian, Michael and his namesake Paul McDonald; Ashley, Brittany, Peter, Nicholas and John Gianibas.
Also survived by his sister in law, Margaret Gianibas of Hull and family member in Greece.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, April 15th at 2 PM at the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, 811 Jerusalem, Rd, Cohasset, MA 02025.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Thursday from 4-8 PM. A Prayer Service will be conducted by Rev. John Maheras at the Downing Chapel on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund.
Interment will be in Hull Village Cemetery.
