Mary Frances "Sissy" Bennett, 90, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held Friday, July 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. John Sikes Gibbs, Jr. and Rev. Chad Hall officiating. Miss Bennett will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. July 3, 2015, at Forsyth Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, July 3, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Miss Bennett was born November 24, 1924 in Forsyth, the daughter of David Frank Bennett and Irene Kingman Bennett, both deceased. She was a retired educator with the Monroe and Tift County School Systems and member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty. She graduated from the Georgia College for Women and was a member of the Retired Educators Association. She was a resident of Southern Care Assisted Living and loved reading and crocheting.
Miss Bennett is survived by one sister, Betty Gibbs of Tifton; her nephews, Rev. John Sikes Gibbs, Jr. and wife, Nancy of Ocilla and David Gibbs and wife, Kristy of Tifton; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, John S. “Evan” Gibbs III and wife Kaylie, Megan Gibbs, Bennett Gibbs, Blair French and Lane French.
