WELLS- Peter Vance Smith, 59, of Wells, Maine passed away on June 29 after a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, son of the late David E. and Mary (Robinson) Smith.
Peter attended Manchester public schools and graduated from Plymouth State College with a degree in Business in 1977. He worked for 31 years as a claims adjuster for Allstate Insurance in New Hampshire, Maine, and Connecticut.
Peter loved gardening, the Red Sox, taking rides along the beautiful Maine coastline, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family and a circle of lifelong friends. He was the epitome of a family man, always eager to coach his daughters' teams, enjoy family vacations, and, later in life, play with his grandchildren. There has never been a happier pepere than Peter.
Loving husband and best friend of Sylvia (Lemay), with whom he spent 38 happy years of marriage. He leaves behind two daughters: Lindsey Otocka and her husband Andrew of Nashua, NH, Amanda Rood and her husband Timothy of Kennebunk, Maine. Peter was a loving pepere of 4 grandchildren. Brother of Kimberly Charland and the late Steven Smith and Scott Smith; also several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of York Hospital Home Care and Hospice of Southern Maine for all the kindness and care given to Peter.
