Karen C. Sheroshik of Olyphant passed away Saturday peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Karen is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Joseph.
Born in Olyphant on Feb. 21, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Alex Rusyn and Celia Nemetz Rusyn Slonin. Karen attended Olyphant schools and furthered her education in the nursing field by working at the Mid-Valley Hospital. Karen was the first female president of Olyphant Ambulance and a member of the Excelsior Hose Company 1, Olyphant.
Karen was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Karen was the owner of Becky's Bridal Shop, Dickson City.
Karen was a wonderful wife and mother and excellent housekeeper. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Gilhooley, Sacred Heart Hospice and Personal Home Health Care for the wonderful care that they gave to Karen.
Karen is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver, Rebecca Sheroshik; two sisters, Joan Kalavsky and husband, George, and Cynthia David; sisters-in-law, Josephine Martinelli and Jean Meddleton and husband, Raymond; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, David P. David and Vito J. Martinelli.
Funeral services will be Wednesday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., corner of Willow Avenue and Grant Street, Olyphant, PA, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish (St. Patrick's) Olyphant, with Monsignor Delaney officiating. Family and friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore, PA.
