Margaret M. (Shea) McNicholas, a lifelong Charlestown resident, entered into eternal life on Saturday June 27, 2015 at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 83 years old.
Margaret was born in Boston on May 15, 1932, a daughter of the late Patrick J. Shea and Margaret (Sullivan) Shea. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1949. Margaret was an employee of Quincy Bargain Center and Sylvania for several years. In order to take care of her beloved family, Margaret was a homemaker for the remainder of her life where she enjoyed the quality time and special occasions.
Margaret is the beloved wife of 62 years to Thomas J. "Joe" McNicholas. She is the devoted mother to Nancy Kelly and her husband Kieran of Charlestown, Geraldine Murphy and her husband Steven of Charlestown, William McNicholas and his wife Agatha of Charlestown, and the late Thomas J. McNicholas. She is the loving Nana to Diana Kelly, Kieran Kelly, and Colin Murphy. She is the sister of the late Patricia Venezia, Maureen Shea, Kevin Shea, Edward Shea, Eugene Shea, and Timothy Shea.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Margaret's Funeral on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
