EPSOM-William "Bill" Johan Schoonman II, 70, passed away Wednesday, June 24th, 2015.
He was born October 11, 1944 in New London, Connecticut, the son of the late Martin Leonard Schoonman and Ethel (Leather) Schoonman. Bill grew up in Quaker Hill, Connecticut, graduated from Waterford High School and Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He moved to Greensboro, NC and began his career as a Hearing Healthcare Provider and continued his career in that profession in Gilford and Concord, NH until his retirement in 2015. Bill was a member and Past President of the Friends of New Hampshire Music Festival and the Gilford High School Sports Boosters Club as well as a member and Chairman of various boards and committees at the Lakeport United Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing with the Lakes Region Chordsmen, the Granite Statesmen Barbershop Chorus, and the New Hampshire Music Festival Chorus. Bill loved antiques and made it a lifetime hobby.
Bill is pre deceased by his brother, Richard James Schoonman and step mother, Belle (Taylor) Schoonman. He is survived by his wife, Sarah (White) Schoonman of 36 years; daughter, Ann Elizabeth Schoonman; stepson Lee Anthony Smith; granddaughter Jett Elizabeth Lucas; sister, Barbara Elizabeth Saxon Morgan; brother in-law, Richard Bruce Morgan; stepbrothers Nosco Hobart Kellam and Stephen Taylor Kellam.
There will be no calling hours.
A celebration of life will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. Burial will follow in the family plot at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
