Jeannette Y. Boulay 95, of Sumner Brown Rd. died peacefully June 22, 2015. She was the wife of the late Raphael Boulay. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Elphege and Eugenie (Marcotte) Martel. Jeannette worked at the former Jacob Finklestein and Sons, and Collamati’s Supermarket. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Woonsocket Hospital. She was an accomplished figure skater in her youth, and performed at the RI Auditorium. Jeannette also enjoyed horseback riding. She was very devoted to her mother-in-law and in her elder years she provided her with long term medical care. Jeannette was a very religious person. Along with her sisters, they started the Divine Mercy Prayer Group in their homes and later moved to the St. Louis Rectory Chapel. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Jeannette is survived by her brother, Gerard Martel of Woonsocket, and several nieces and nephews, including Marcy Morel, and Lynne Gilpatrick. She was the sister of the late Lionel, Lucien, Omer and Paul Martel, Lillian Lagace, Beatrice Jolicoeur, Yvette Duhamel, and Pauline Franca.
Her funeral with visitation will be held Thursday at 8:30 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham.
